Hydro Excavation
What is Hydro Excavation?
Hydro excavation is a non-destructive digging method that uses pressurized water to break up soil and a powerful vacuum to remove the resulting slurry, safely exposing buried utilities and creating precise excavations.
Hydro excavation combines a high-pressure water system (rated in GPM and PSI) with a strong air-moving vacuum (rated in CFM) to cut soil and immediately suction the mud into an onboard debris body. Because it does not rely on augers, buckets, or blades, it dramatically lowers the risk of striking gas, electric, water, and telecom lines compared with mechanical digging.
Common applications include daylighting, potholing, slot trenching, pipeline exposure, and cold-weather frost digging. The equipment is a hydrovac truck or hydrovac trailer. On Vac4Rent, renters submit a free request for hydro excavation equipment and rental companies respond directly by email or phone with no commission or booking fees; rates are handled off platform.
