Hydrovac Truck
What is Hydrovac Truck?
A hydrovac truck is a vacuum truck equipped with a high-pressure water system and boom that performs hydro excavation, breaking soil with water and vacuuming the slurry into an onboard debris tank.
A hydrovac truck integrates a water pump (rated in GPM and PSI), a high-CFM blower, a boom-mounted vacuum tube, and a debris body on a heavy truck chassis. Operators use a handheld wand to cut soil and the boom to guide the suction hose, filling the tank with slurry for offloading at an approved site.
Truck-mounted units carry more water and debris capacity than trailers, making them suited to larger daylighting, potholing, and pipeline exposure jobs. Typical specs are described as ranges, not guarantees: debris capacity in cubic yards, water in gallons, vacuum in CFM, and boom reach in feet.
