Slot Trenching

What is Slot Trenching?

Slot trenching is digging a narrow, precise trench with hydro excavation, commonly used to install conduit, expose long runs of utility, or create clean utility corridors with minimal surface disruption.

Slot trenching uses pressurized water and vacuum to cut a thin, controlled trench rather than a wide open excavation. The narrow slot minimizes ground disturbance, reduces restoration costs, and keeps nearby utilities safe, making it ideal for conduit installation and cable placement.

Because hydro excavation removes spoils as slurry into the debris body, slot trenches stay clean and precisely sized. The work is performed with a hydrovac truck or trailer and a dig tube and wand. Request slot-trenching-capable equipment for free on Vac4Rent and rental companies reply directly.
